life continues apace
(still not using blog software. handcrafting posts is still pretty straightforward.)
anyway, been another couple weeks. this was originally a big run-on sentence but I broke into a list just for you, dear reader:
- more furniture (IKEA are the real ones. got a side table for $15 bucks. jonathan coulton was right.)
- got some sick black friday deals, built a new PC for like $600 (my old PC was built in 2015 for over $800, plus another $150 for the gfx card upgrade later) that outperforms the old one anywhere from 2-8x in any given metric. gonna play so many fuckin games, gonna hook up my VR, gonna play those stupidly overloaded minecraft packs, etc.
- psychically tortured by the process of setting up a new PC (windows is very bad, but I wanted to use linux and couldn't stop having anxiety that I would lose access to all my data or waste a bunch of time troubleshooting games constantly, then got so pissed off at a tiny UI thing that I deleted the whole install and went back to all Windows. sorry, but if you think "install a different widget to replace the current one" is an acceptable solution to get title text on taskbar icons, something windows does with a single button, your UI is not very good.)
- went to my little sib's D&D night (chaotic fun, but their group is a little full already so I probably won't join)
- tried and failed multiple strategies for scheduling and organizing my life (obligatory mention of my ADHD, have to do that in every post..)
- nearly pissed myself at the laundromat (public bathroom access is extremely spotty, shoutouts to the grillhouse around the block for hooking me up)
- got pissed off at the laundromat (the weird smell that permeates the air seeped into my last load. maybe a problem with the front loaders, maybe just weird water problems, idk. thinking about going to a further laundromat that's a bit pricier but way less sketchy.)
- flipped my shit so hard at the price of a haircut that I immediately had to post about it (apparently getting a fucking buzz/crew cut costs upward of $30 these days?? and that's considered a 'cheap' price?? I've been cutting my own hair for so long that I could not even fathom this price. I did that shit once a month to myself for years, and you're telling me I have to confront my social anxiety and let someone hold a blade to my skull AND pay thirty bucks for the privilege? no thanks bud, just gonna get some clippers which will evidently pay themselves back in 2 or 3 uses.)
It's also occuring to me that my stated intent with this blog was to share games for like-minded sickos, and I have yet to recommend anything. I don't have a big spiel to give on this one, but maybe next time I'll get into something juicy. I have some old cohost drafts collecting dust about bizarre old games (more than a few of those not being video games, either). Instead, I'll just say that Caves of Qud just had its 1.0 release, and you should play that game. Incredible writing, deep and bizarre systems, really fucking fun.
bonus bit, got font stuff working so I can now just put straight toki pona glyphs into my posts. which I experimented with on cohost but never publically posted. font is linja pona 4.9. behold:
